Let's talk marriage

New Registrar General - Jeff Montgomery

The new Registrar-General of Births, Deaths and Marriages wants to make sure that the services that are on offer to people living in New Zealand are accessible and easily understood by ethnic communities. Jeff Montgomery has recently taken on the role at the Department of Internal Affairs . And he would like to see more marriage celebrants from the ethnic communities.

"I am particularly interested in meeting with ethnic community leaders to discuss marriage," says Mr Montgomery.

The Office of Ethnic Affairs successfully connected the international leprosy agency,  The Leprosy Mission, with the small Bangladesh community in Auckland.

International Ambassador pays homage to Christchurch

During a recent visit to Christchurch with other interfaith youth leaders, International Ambassador for the Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions, Lachlan Mackay paid homage to Christchurch by reflecting on the suffering of Cantabrians especially those from faith communities. He visited many of the sacred places of worship during his visit.
