Minister's update May 2015

I am continuing to travel around the country to hear from our ethnic communities in a series of forums to find out what challenges they face and what issues they would like resolved.  The feedback from those who have attended forums so far in Taupō, Auckland and Northland has been helpful. Everything from language difficulties to education and employment have come up in our discussions.  I thank everyone who has come along so far and would encourage everyone to attend a forum if they can. I would like to hear a diverse range of voices.

Over the next few months, the Minister for Ethnic Communities, Hon Peseta Sam Lotu-liga, will be holding a series of forums around the country to learn more about New Zealand’s ethnic communities.
These forums are designed to give the Minister a greater understanding of the needs and aspirations of people in these communities, along with the key issues and challenges they are facing.

Director's Update April 2015

As autumn rolls in displaying its many colours, April has become a reflective month for all of us in New Zealand.

The ANZAC commemoration events across New Zealand brought many weeks of story-telling about past heroes and adventures and new knowledge for those of us who partook in these events. Some of us would have also learnt that our Chinese and Indian communities also served alongside other New Zealanders in Gallipoli and that their contributions are also recognised.
