  • Money Matters Workshops September 2015

    The Office of Ethnic Communities are running funding workshops in various regions around New Zealand in conjunction with Philanthropy New Zealand. [Funding workshops are now closed]. The workshops are glasses, pen and calculator on study deskdesigned to support community organisations to complete robust targeted funding applications and strengthen their understanding of the not-for-profit funding sector.

  • The Minister for Ethnic Communities’ National Forums

    Over the next few months, the Minister for Ethnic Communities, Hon Peseta Sam Lotu-liga, will be holding a series of forums around the country to learn more about New Zealand’s ethnic communities.
    These forums are designed to give the Minister a greater understanding of the needs and aspirations of people in these communities, along with the key issues and challenges they are facing.

  • Lining up Languages

    If you build it, and it’s good, sometimes they really will come.

    That was certainly the case for the Office of Ethnic Communities in Wellington last week.  More than 150 people from around New Zealand gathered at Te Papa for the first ever Lining Up Languages: Navigating Policy and Programmes conference. Aimed at fostering discussion about government policy and activity in relation to language use and learning in New Zealand, the two-day conference brought together a range of speakers from government, academia and the private and not-for-profit sectors to work together to develop language use and learning in New Zealand.

    We’re partnering with Philanthropy New Zealand on workshops in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch to help community organisations build a better understanding of the not-for-profit sector, including the best places to seek funding and how to develop robust commercial funding proposals for accessing funding.
