    The Business and Professional Women International Asia Pacific Regional Conference (BPW) was held in Auckland on 9 and 10 April.  It was attended by over 200 individuals from international BPW associations, women in business organisations, business owners and managers.  With a key focus on empowering women through business, diversity and cultural equality, the conference aimed to understand the power of women entrepreneurs and business leaders to lead economic growth in the region.

    It’s hard to believe we are heading into the second month of autumn when for many of us it feels as though summer hasn’t yet ended. Next month we will start to see a change in our evenings as Daylight Savings ends and we lose the extra hour of daylight after working-hours.

  • Our planets increasing globalisation

    You only have to open a newspaper or turn on the TV to see that the world is getting smaller. Our planet’s increasing globalisation requires more interaction among people from diverse cultures, beliefs and backgrounds than ever before. People no longer live and work in an insular marketplace; they are now part of a worldwide economy, competing for jobs and resources with staff from all over the world.  For this reason, both profit and non-profit organisations need diversity to become more creative and open to change.

    In April New Zealanders celebrated both Easter and ANZAC Day . ANZAC day in particular gives us an opportunity to reflect and remember those who made many sacrifices to protect our way of life. This country continues to grow and develop and its cultural, social and linguistic diversity contributes to that growth and development.

From connecting ethnic businesses and investors in the Otago region to holding a Muslim World Forum in Auckland, the Office continues to increase visibility of opportunities that ethnic diversity can bring to New Zealand.
