• Ethnic Communities Development Fund - 2019 addition

    Government has agreed to a $1million one-off additional funding round to the Ethnic Communities Development Fund. This is part of the Government's response to the recent attacks in Christchurch.

    The fund is now open.

    There is no closing date for this Fund. It will remain open until the total amount of $1 million has been allocated.

    Funding is applicable to projects started on or after 15 March 2019.

  • Live Your Dream – Ethnic Women in Entrepreneurship

    What links a cupcake business, an ethnic driving school for women and an IT support and training service for the elderly?  These businesses all began with the Women Entrepreneurship Centre’s Live Your Dream workshops.

    The Women Entrepreneurship Centre, supported by the Ethnic Communities Development Fund, created the Live Your Dream workshops as leadership development courses for ethnic women. 

  • Ethnic Communities Development Fund - recipients announced

    The recipients of the Ethnic Communities Development Fund for the 2018 year have been announced. A total of 71 groups received a combined total of $520,000 from the Fund.

    Grants were awarded for activities related to social cohesion, leadership development and cultural events. We received 138 requests for funding, totalling about $2.6 million.

    The Ethnic Communities Development Fund is open for requests and will close at midnight on Wednesday 27 September 2017.

    The fund distributes $520,000 each year to community groups wanting to increase awareness and understanding of their ethnic community, or to promote leadership and social cohesion.
