    A draft report on New Zealand’s performance under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination has been released for public comment.

    New Zealand is one of 177 countries that are a party to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. The Convention commits State Parties to the elimination of racial discrimination, affirms the necessity to adopting national measures to secure the effective recognition and observance of the principles set out in the human rights treaty.

  • Ethnic Affairs at the NZ Diversity Forum

    The Office of Ethnic Affairs supported the Human Rights Commission at the New Zealand Diversity Forum in Christchurch on 24 and 25 August. The forum was an opportunity to learn, share and meet people working to support cultural diversity and positive race relations in Aotearoa New Zealand. The forum brings together communities of interest, central and local government, the voluntary sector, business, civil society and young people from around the country. This year’s theme was “Migrant and Refugee Employment: Valuing Diversity.”
