office of ethnic communities

  • Introducing the Office of Ethnic Communities!

You’ll notice some changes on this site from Monday 2 March. That’s because we’ve changed our name from The Office of Ethnic Affairs to The Office of Ethnic Communities.

This change aligns with the renaming of the ministerial portfolio from Ethnic Affairs to Ethnic Communities that happened after the last election.

But that’s not all that’s changing: we’ve also recently streamlined The Office of Ethnic Communities, ensuring teams are now better placed to work with local communities to help New Zealand move forward economically, socially and culturally.

It also means we’re now able to not only work with ethnic communities and businesses, but are also able to use that experience to inform government policy and practice.

We hope you’ll join all of us at The Office of Ethnic Communities for this exciting next phase in our journey.
