    The Government is keen to engage with Muslim communities and acknowledge their contribution to New Zealand over a long period of time. The Office of Ethnic Communities also wanted to address some of the issues facing this diverse community such as the media reporting about Muslims in New Zealand and concerns about safety, security and their human rights.

    Hamilton settlement services are getting International recognition again. The United Kingdom Speaker of the House of Commons, Rt Hon John Bercow, took time in a brief visit to New Zealand to head to Hamilton. He was interested in the settlement journey of the Somalis and the recent arrival of Afghani interpreters.
