Organisational Structure

The Office of Ethnic Affairs was launched in May 2001 and is part of Internal Affairs. On 2 March 2015 the name changed to the Office of Ethnic Communities to align with the ministerial portfolio.

Our General Manager is Wen Powles.

There are three teams: Community Engagement, Policy and Research and Planning, Systems and Services.

Our Minister for Ethnic Communities is Hon Jenny Salesa.

The Office of Ethnic Communities runs the government’s  Language Line telephone interpreting service which encourages equal access to government services for people with little or no English.
