EPIC NZ Speaker - Jehan Casinader

Jehan Casinader
Journalist

Jehan Casinader is obsessed with great Kiwi stories. In 2016, he became the youngest-ever correspondent for TVNZ’s flagship current affairs programme, SUNDAY. He is a familiar face on Seven Sharp, where he was one of the original reporters.

With a particular interest in social issues, education, innovation and culture, Jehan has travelled the length and breadth of the country. Over the past eight years, he has interviewed Kiwis from all walks of life, including politicians, convicted killers, cancer battlers, survivors of near death experiences, and everyone in between. Jehan’s reporting has given him a unique insight into the shape of our country: what fires us up, what makes us proud, what excites us, and what makes us unique.

Journalism is in Jehan’s blood. He filed his first piece for TVNZ’s Holmes programme at the age of 13. Throughout his teens, he wrote for student media, before freelancing for newspapers and magazines. By 20, he had been a finalist twice at the Qantas Media Awards, and travelled the world filing stories for New Zealand media. He covered child abuse in Fiji and tsunami relief in the Solomons. He interviewed red carpet stars in New York and found Kiwi success stories in Egypt.

Jehan was born in Wellington but is now based in Auckland. He is passionate about creativity, and loves conversations about fresh ideas. Jehan says many of the best stories he has ever discovered are the ones that never made it to air.
