He Tohu and Women's Suffrage Petition

You are warmly invited to attend a briefing on He Tohu, the exhibition of constitutional documents that shape our nation, including the Women’s Suffrage Petition. Philippa Doyle of the Department of Internal Affairs will be joined by National Council of Women of New Zealand Vice President, Vanisa Dhiru.

He Tohu is a permanent exhibition of New Zealand’s key constitutional documents:

  • 1835 He Whakaputanga o te Rangatiratanga o Nu Tireni
  • 1840 Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • 1893 Women’s Suffrage Petition

The exhibition will open in the National Library of New Zealand, Wellington on 20 May 2017. Philippa Doyle and Vanisa Dhiru will give a presentation on the development and purposes of the exhibition, and the role of women and the National Council of Women of New Zealand Te Kaunihera Wahine o Aotearoa in guiding exhibition content.
