Nominations service

Delegates at the Women in Public Service Project conference in Washington DC

Are you interested in helping to make decisions in the public sector?

The Office of Ethnic Communities keeps a database of New Zealanders from ethnic communities1 who are suitably qualified to be considered for appointment to a number of government boards, committees and advisory groups, including those of Crown companies.

The positions represent an excellent opportunity to contribute to the prosperity and strength of New Zealand’s economy and communities.

We are consulted by agencies that support the Government’s appointment of candidates to more than 400 state sector boards and committees. The Office of Ethnic Communities provides an avenue through which ethnic people can register their interest and availability to take up board appointments.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for people with any of the following:

  • previous experience in regional or national governance roles
  • previous appointments to governance positions
  • directors on medium to large enterprises.

What we want you to do

If you are interested in being nominated for one of these opportunities and you can demonstrate one of the characteristics listed above, we would like to hear from you.  Please email the Office’s on oecnominate@dia.govt.nz

Please attach a Microsoft Word copy of your full curriculum vitae and include your contact details.

What’s in it for you

Registering with our nominations service gives you an excellent opportunity to be considered for appointment to these high level positions.

What happens next

When positions become available on state sector boards, we contact the people on our database and invite those who best meet the specified criteria to express their interest.

It’s important to keep in mind that the process for appointing people to board roles is highly competitive and the Office of Ethnic Communities is only one source of advice and candidates for the appointing agencies.  Registering for the database does not guarantee you will be offered a board position, although it increases the chance that you will be considered for roles.
