Race Unity Speech Competition

Entries to the Race Unity Speech competition are now open for year 11, 12 and 13 high school students.

This year’s theme reflects the one chosen by the Human Rights Commission for Race Relations Day, and relates to the Commission’s ‘Give nothing to racism’ campaign.

Key dates:

6 April – entries close

11 – 12 April - regional heats

11 May – semi-finals, Auckland

12 May – grand finals, Auckland

150 high school students took part in last year’s competition, from 14 different regions of New Zealand. The six finalists spoke on the subject of ‘say no to racism.’
