Recognition for Hamilton Settlement Services

John Bercow with Waikato Migrant Resource Centre Staff

Hamilton settlement services are getting International recognition again. The United Kingdom Speaker of the House of Commons, Rt Hon John Bercow, took time in a brief visit to New Zealand to head to Hamilton. He was interested in the settlement journey of the Somalis and the recent arrival of Afghani interpreters.

Mr Bercow was able to meet with members of the communities and staff from agencies at the Migrant Resource Centre.  The Centre model clustering different settlement services together for effective service provision was also of interest. The United Kingdom government is also looking to resettle Afghani staff employed by the British forces.
