Any group can apply if your project supports ethnic communities in New Zealand.

Our definition of ethnic communities includes migrants, former refugees, long-term settlers, and multi-generational New Zealanders who identify as:

• African
• Asian
• Continental European
• Latin American
• Middle Eastern

The Ethnic Communities Development fund does not fund individuals, but only organisations.

Organisations can apply for funding even if you are not a registered charity or incorporated as a legal entity. However, organisations without legal entity status can only apply for grants of up to $10,000. Organisations with legal entity status can apply for grants over $10,000.

Please note the Ethnic Communities Development Fund is open to applications from many organisations. Funding is not guaranteed.
