NZMA is the first and largest Muslim organisation in New Zealand. Muslims of New Zealand are diverse, comprising of over 40 ethnicities. NZMA is also the largest constituent of the national body for Muslims, the Federation of Islamic Associations of NZ (FIANZ).NZMA has built capabilities to work with all faiths and ethnicities. NZMA is an active member of various ethnic and religious communities in Auckland and across New Zealand. We have developed programs to build social cohesion and improve understanding between various ethnicities and faiths. Auckland Muslim population is approx. 40,000 and approx. 20,000 Muslims live within the areas serviced by our mosques. NZMA owns and operates five mosques across Auckland(Birkenhead; Ranui; Ponsonby; Kelston and Avondale), which regularly host community and interfaith events. NZMA actively works with local and central government to provide advice and input regarding ethnic communities. NZMA has a close working relationship with organisations like the Auckland Council, Ministry of Ethnic Communities, Ministry of Health, NZ Police, NZSIS, DPMC, and Interfaith Council. We also work closely with various communities and non-governmental organisations across Auckland on various initiatives which help deliver social cohesion and better understanding of multi-cultural Auckland.
