"Christchurch Zhonghua Chinese Society (CZCS) is a leading and sizable non-profit Chinese association representing the South Island of New Zealand. With a history spanning 25 years since its establishment in 1998, CZCS aims to unite Chinese migrants in New Zealand and foster a mutually beneficial overseas Chinese community. It offers a comprehensive service platform to address the daily challenges of Chinese migrants residing in the South Island. CZCS actively collaborates with other ethnic communities, serving as a bridge that connects diverse groups and strives towards promoting harmony.
Throughout the years, CZCS has grown into one of the most influential Chinese societies in New Zealand, thanks to the unwavering support of local Chinese migrant families, the generous assistance from the New Zealand government, and Chinese Consulates. CZCS organizes and participates in various events ranging from citywide to community-based, such as the New Year's Eve market, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, National Day Gala, and Christmas parade. Our location at Riccarton Baptist Church has become a thriving hub for the Chinese community, providing engaging programs for individuals of all ages, including youth, families, and seniors.
'
Looking ahead, CZCS is committed to continuing its support for Chinese migrants in Christchurch, guided by the Christchurch City Council. We strive to encourage community participation aligned with our city's sustainable initiatives, fostering a sense of belonging and collective responsibility among residents."
