A Diwali celebration was held at the Banquet Hall in the New Zealand Parliament on 7 December.
The event highlighted the contributions that the Indian and Hindu communities continue to make to our society. It was a vibrant, colourful evening that reaffirmed our vision of an inclusive Aotearoa New Zealand where ethnic diversity and contributions are acknowledged and celebrated.

The celebration was hosted by the Minister for Diversity, Inclusion and Ethnic Communities, Hon Priyanca Radhakrishnan. Attendees included the Prime Minister, Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern, members of New Zealand’s Indian and Hindu communities, representatives from non-profit and community organisations, members of the diplomatic corps, Members of Parliament and government officials.
